Biography

James Richardson graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in 2018 and from the University of Texas School of Law in 2021. He joined Cook Keith & Davis in 2025.

James’ practice focuses on commercial and civil litigation with an emphasis on contract disputes, construction matters, collections, Deceptive Trade Practices Act (DTPA) claims, matters under the Residential Construction Liability Act, and other complex litigation. He represents individuals and entities across a range of disputes.

Representative Cases

  • Successfully drafted and argued Motion for New Trial on the basis of defective service in matter where judgment appeared to have been already been confirmed as a matter of law. Subsequently negotiated a nonsuit of all claims against client.

  • Successfully briefed and argued to preclude Pakistani judgment’s registration in Texas Under the Uniform Enforcement of Foreign Judgments Act.

  • Obtained judgment at trial with award for attorney’s fees in matter where client’s property was damaged by moving company and client signed waiver of insurance.

  • Successfully argued for client to avoid commitment to County Jail where client had already failed to appear at Show Cause hearing although duly cited to appear.
