Biography

Jose Espinosa earned both his undergraduate degree and his law degree from Southern Methodist University, graduating with his bachelor’s degree in 2008 and his J.D. from SMU Dedman School of Law in 2015. He joined Cook Keith & Davis as a law clerk in 2014 and remained with the firm after graduating from law school.

Jose’s practice focuses on complex commercial litigation. He has represented clients in matters ranging from government immunity disputes and secure transaction litigation to energy company easements and judgment collection. His client base includes contractors, hedge funds, energy companies, and small business owners.

Representative Cases
  • Represented a contractor against government authorities at trial and in appellate court, litigating issues of governmental immunity.

  • Prosecuted and defended secure transaction litigation.

  • Collected a $300,000 judgment in full against a debtor who appeared, by all accounts, to be uncollectible — demonstrating that a "judgment proof" debtor is not always beyond reach.

  • Represented an energy company in matters involving easements and land royalty disputes.

  • Represents construction firms in the filing of liens and lawsuits to collect unpaid bills and retainage.
